The reason Gary Neville thinks Man Utd’s 3-0 loss to Bournemouth is good for the

According to Gary Neville, Manchester United’s 3-0 Premier League loss to Bournemouth on Sunday is actually beneficial for the team because it highlights the caliber of players Ruben Amorim has at his disposal. In November, the Portuguese coach took over as Red Devils manager, succeeding departing Erik ten Hag.
Through his exploits with Sporting CP, he had established himself as a highly skilled manager and transformed the team into a dominant force in the Primeira Liga. Amorim’s arrival offered hope and a better future for the 13-time Premier League champions after Ten Hag’s well-publicized problems at Old Trafford. He is currently among the world’s top managers, after all. However, things have started off rough in England.
Although United has won a few games under their new manager, they have also suffered some crushing defeats, and their defeat by the Cherries was the most recent humiliation for the team. Neville, who played for the team his whole career, has admitted that the loss might not be all that terrible.
Neville Thinks the Loss Helps Amorim Assess His Team

It would have been reasonable to assume that United would defeat Bournemouth in their home game on Sunday. Amorim’s team had a terrible game and was hammered in style thanks to goals from Antoine Semenyo, Justin Kluivert, and Dean Huijsen. For the first time ever, the loss puts them in the bottom half of the Premier League at Christmas, in 13th place. However, Neville believes that United benefits from the defeat since it provides Amorim with a realistic assessment of his squad. Speaking through the Daily Mail on the Gary Neville podcast, he stated:
“I believe that Ruben Amorim is seeing what he has, which is a huge plus. Because of good performance and advancement in the league, you may have been duped in the past into believing you had a better collection of players. But in every aspect, they are a mile distant. By rotating the team, he has given everyone a chance, and I doubt that many will be the ones he has watched and decided, “Yes, I want you on the bus.”
“Let’s be honest, they are better than what they are displaying. They are all quite mediocre, and I’m not sure how that happened. However, there is a trend. There must be a cultural change since he is witnessing what Manchester United supporters have been watching for ten years. There isn’t much to enjoy about their playing style or performance levels, so it’s a really turbulent moment. Despite their greatest efforts, none of the boys are good enough to play for Manchester United, which strives for excellence. Observing these players makes it quite evident that they are inadequate.
Amorim has only been at Old Trafford for a few games, but it’s already obvious that the manager has a lot of work ahead of him. Only time will tell if he will be able to accomplish this.
