Again, there is trouble in the Premier League because Joao Pedro would have missed Brighton’s game against Arsenal if this had been given 💨🏨

Joao Pedro tried to elbow Yehor Yarmolyuk during Brighton’s goalless draw with Brentford on Friday night, but he didn’t get sent off or given a red card.

The attack happened in the second half, when the Brighton forward tried to get away from Yarmolyuk, who was pulling on his shoulder and shirt.

When Pedro got angry, he stopped and swung his right elbow at Yarmolyuk, but it just missed the Brentford player.

Andy Madley, the official, stopped the game and gave Yarmolyuk a yellow card.

But VAR judge Chris Kavanagh looked at what happened and decided that Madley had not made a clear and obvious mistake when he chose not to punish Pedro.

“I saw it, I think it was a red card,” Thomas Frank, the boss of Brentford, said after the game.

“You can’t swing your arm that way. If you want to punch someone or swing your arm that way, hit or miss, it’s a red card,” he said.

We need to have a good talk about it because I know it’s not easy to get everything right.

The Premier League Match Center said in a statement why the Brighton forward did not get a red card.

“VAR checked and confirmed the referee’s call that Joao Pedro did not deserve a red card for violent behavior. They found that the referee’s call was not clear and clearly wrong,” the statement said.
