Either they sign them or I resign- Man United’s Ruben Amorim has named SIX players who the club must sign by all means

Micah Richards thinks that Manchester United will get a lot of new players in 2025, with up to six names being mentioned.
After a rough start to the 2024–25 season that saw them struggle in the lower half of the Premier League table—even after INEOS fired Erik ten Hag in late October after a string of bad results—the Red Devils want to start over. Ruben Amorim took over as manager but hasn’t made a big difference yet. He may be given a lot of money to help him get the team to play in the way he wants them to.
Richards, who used to play defense for Manchester City, talked to Gary Lineker on an episode of The Rest Is Football in November about Amorim and the United team. Richards told Lineker, “So he wants to play high-energy, he likes his midfield two to be really aggressive,” after seeing Amorim’s first game in charge end in a 1-1 draw against Ipswich. For the first ten minutes, it looked good, right? They looked sharp and lively. Everything you thought. It went flat just as I was getting excited.
According to Richards, United may not be able to make any big purchases in January. He thinks they may have to wait until the summer of 2025 to do so again, after Ten Hag’s recent spending spree. Richards also said, “I don’t think he’ll get the players he wants in January.”
“But I think five or six players will come in over the summer.” I wasn’t too happy with the performance, and that’s not the boss. It’s clear that the boss needs time to get his style down, but it was kind of like a fizzy drink: I was expecting so much, they started off so well, and then it was over.
Richards stressed how important it is for manager Amorim to shape his team over time, while Alan Shearer, a former Newcastle United striker, talked about the problems United’s middle faces and what Amorim can’t do with the players he has. Shearer said, “To begin with, he has an old midfield, doesn’t he?” Casemiro and Christian Eriksen were roles he played.
“Those two could hardly do what he wants in terms of the press, the high energy, the sprints, the running, and everything else.”
This worry seems reasonable since the team has kept losing under Amorim. Since the Portuguese coach took over, United has lost to Nottingham Forest, Arsenal, Tottenham, and Bournemouth.
This summer, a lot of new players came to Old Trafford. Leny Yoro came from Lille, Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna, Manuel Ugarte from PSG, and Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich. The Manchester Evening News says that United spent around £200 million that busy summer.
Some important pieces are still missing, though, like a designated striker and more depth in the middle of the field. Viktor Gyokeres, a hitman for Sporting CP, has been suggested as a possible addition. However, bringing him back together with Amorim could be expensive, especially in January. But if Marcus Rashford is sold, that could help the team get money for new players right away.
