Man Utd stars privately urging flop to stay but replacement signing gets green light to secure move

Are you looking to acquire players during the transfer window in January? Get in touch with Manchester United.
Despite the fact that they are now ranked thirteenth in the Premier League table and that their new manager, Ruben Amorim, is still getting his feet under the table, the decision-makers at Old Trafford are prepared to acknowledge credible offers for all of their players, with the exception of two. Over the course of the previous year, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is a part-owner of the company, has made himself an unpopular figure by reducing the number of employment and the benefits that employees receive. Now, this brutality is going to be reflected on the field.
In Amorim’s team, there is hardly anyone who is safe, and it is anticipated that bids will be flying in between now and the end of January. To what extent, however, should certain players be regarded more than others? Who is invincible, and whose time has come to an end?
They are invulnerable.
First, let’s talk about the people who, in our opinion, should not be sold in January and who most certainly will not be sold. Leny Yoro and Amad have been accorded special status by United chiefs, which is a good place to start when considering who is apparently out of the running.
As a result of an ankle injury that kept him out until the beginning of December, highly regarded center back Yoro, who was acquired for £52 million in the summer of 2017, is still getting used to his new environment at Old Trafford. Amad, on the other hand, has been the most excellent player since Amorim was appointed. He has scored memorable late goals away from home against rivals Manchester City and Anfield, moments of brilliance that demonstrate why the club has offered him a new long-term deal.
In the beginning of this year, Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho were included on a list of three individuals who were considered to be untouchables. More on the third individual will be provided later. However, United is now considering selling the two talented academy graduates. In spite of this, there is no question that Mainoo and Garnacho have the innate ability to lead the Red Devils back to the top of the league. Additionally, at the ages of 19 and 21, respectively, they ought to be retained in order to further develop their abilities.
It is too soon to sale.
This is the point at which the dispute actually begins. To be completely honest, can any of United’s veteran players be considered deserving of the benefit of the doubt after spending years performing poorly?
Despite the fact that Andre Onana, the club’s goalkeeper, has been a mixed bag ever since his £47 million transfer from Inter Milan, we believe that it would be better to continue with the Cameroonian for the time being. This is because the club’s goalkeeping department is due to undergo a significant shakeup elsewhere. In defense, the versatile Noussair Mazraoui has been perhaps United’s most successful summer signing. He has performed brilliantly under both Erik ten Hag and Amorim, so there is no reason to let him go off the team.
He brought Matthijs de Ligt with him from Bayern Munich, and he has demonstrated on multiple occasions why he was previously considered the most sought-after young center back in Europe. Harry Maguire’s manager has singled him out as a leader, and he has appeared to be more at ease playing in Amorim’s three-at-the-back formation. His contract has just been extended until 2026.
One of the players who has not done so is Diogo Dalot, who has primarily played the position of left wing-back. Real Madrid is apparently considering signing the Portugal international as a backup option in the event that they are unable to acquire Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool. As a result, there appears to be interest in him.
On the other hand, if United are successful in their chase of the great player Nuno Mendes from Paris Saint-Germain, Dalot will be able to return to the right side of the field and begin to flourish. It is clearly too soon to sell Mendes because he performed under Amorim at Sporting Lisbon, just like Manuel Ugarte did. Ugarte’s all-action display at Anfield was exactly what fans anticipated seeing when United paid four and a half million pounds for him, so it is not appropriate to trade him at this time.
The most difficult part of the game for Amorim is the front line, where Rasmus Hojlund, the third player who was previously invincible, and Joshua Zirkzee have both failed to meet expectations this season. Hojlund was acquired for a staggering £72 million, and despite having a good finish to the previous season, he has not been able to make any progress.
Zirkzee, on the other hand, was acquired for a fee of 34 million pounds and was intended to relieve the Danish player of his responsibilities. Instead, the Dutchman has battled his own set of challenges, including the memorable jeering that occurred when he was substituted out against Newcastle after only 33 minutes of play.
Despite the fact that both youngsters, who are 21 and 23 years old respectively, have potential, United would be better off with an experienced No. 9 to teach them the ropes. A loan move could be beneficial for both of them, but Amorim should not sell both of them because it would leave the club without a striker who is recognized.
A lot to demonstrate
The verdict is still out on a number of more high-priced additions at Old Trafford, including Bruno Fernandes, who is the captain of the team. In spite of the fact that United’s captain shown his most creative side in Sunday’s 2-2 draw against Liverpool, he has been mainly underwhelming over the course of the past 18 months and has been accused of lacking the leadership abilities that are required to represent United as captain.
In August, Fernandes reportedly garnered attention from Barcelona, Bayern, and Saudi Arabia, which led to his signing a new contract that will keep him committed until the year 2027. On the other hand, the midfielder will turn 31 at the beginning of the following season, which means that if the Red Devils want to adopt a long-term approach, moving Fernandes for a large fee might be a good move, even though it might cause them some short-term discomfort.
Alternate goalkeeper Altay Bayindir could be sold, which would be a decision that would be easier to understand. The agency for the Turkish understudy has stated that he is eager to remain with the club; but, given that Amorim is rumored to be looking for another goalie to challenge Onana in 2025, it would make sense for him to be sold.
As we continue with this section, we will discuss two players who have been unable to play due to the trauma of injuries: Tyrell Malacia and Mason Mount. On the other hand, Mount has not been able to get going since his £55 million move from Chelsea in 2023, while Malacia has just recently returned after a terrible 16-month layoff due to injury.
Although Amorim has stated that he ‘loves’ Mount, it would be worthwhile to consider making an offer if a large one were to come in. The image of the 25-year-old player going down barely 14 minutes into the Manchester derby that took place a month ago was difficult to witness. Amorim’s favored configuration, which he will not be modifying, has proven to be difficult for Lisandro Martinez to play in. Martinez has struggled to play as the left-sided center back in this formation.
Jarrad Branthwaite, a left-footed player who plays for Everton, is still a player that United is interested in. Additionally, Goncalo Inacio, who Amorim employed for the job at Sporting, has been connected to United. Martinez’s first season at Old Trafford, which followed his £57 million transfer from Ajax in 2022, was largely impressive; nonetheless, United cannot disregard Martinez’s modest size and injury record because of his injury history.
The clock is ticking.
Beginning with Tom Heaton, the veteran goalkeeper has been a good servant since coming to United in 2021 under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. However, his contract is about to expire in the summer, and it appears that he will be leaving the club. Additionally, Jonny Evans, who is 37 years old, fellow defender Victor Lindelof, who is presently suffering from an injury, and Christian Eriksen, who is rumored to be a target for former club Ajax, are all included in this category.
To continue with the topic of former Ajax players, it would be a great surprise to see Antony becoming a member of the Red Devils’ squad even in the next half year. Although there is no possibility that United would be able to recuperate the amount of £82 million that was spent on the Brazilian player, it is certain that he will be on the market.
The same is true for Casemiro, a midfielder who earns £350,000 a week and is of interest to clubs in the Saudi Pro League football organization. It is possible that Cristiano Ronaldo will be able to catch up with him at Al-Nassr, and his departure would be a significant step toward bringing United’s wage book into balance.
Marcus Rashford, a forward who publicly admitted last month that he is’ready’ for a new challenge, is expected to be the most high-profile departure from Old Traford this month. This move is likely to be the most significant departure from Old Traford this month. Rashford has not been seen since the 14th of December, and it is becoming increasingly clear that his twenty-year history with United is likely to come to an end.
Despite being in his eleventh season with United, Luke Shaw has only made three appearances, which is a perfect example of his struggles with injuries. To this day, there is no question that he is still considered to be one of the top left-backs in the world. Unfortunately for Shaw, this kind of situation is becoming increasingly uncommon, and as a result, his services ought to be available.
Finally, Jadon Sancho has demonstrated that he is capable of showing promise while on loan at Chelsea. Chelsea is required to make his stay permanent next summer for approximately twenty-five million pounds. The 24-year-old player has been unsuccessful under numerous managers at United, so that ought to be the end of his career.
