Blow for Amorim as £58m Man Utd striker target makes big decision amid Real Madrid interest

As a result of Real Madrid’s entry into the race, Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim’s ambition to sign a key target has been dealt a significant setback. According to a report, the striker wants to do something during the January transfer window.
Currently, Manchester United are going through a difficult time. The Red Devils are not in the running for a spot in the top four of the Premier League and are perilously close to the zone that is designated for relegation. Amorim’s team has been defeated in four of their previous six league matches, and they are only seven points ahead of Ipswich Town, who are now in third place.
During the current season, United has had a difficult time scoring goals under the direction of Erik ten Hag, and things have not improved under Amorim. After playing in 20 Premier League matches so far this season, they have only managed to find the back of the goal 23 times. With 31 goals, Wolverhampton Wanderers, who are now ranked 17th, have scored more than Manchester United.
A striker is something that Amorim is interested in acquiring, and he is hoping to bring Viktor Gyokeres to Old Trafford. After working with the Sweden international at Sporting Lisbon, the manager of United believes that he would be able to fix the problems that his side is having with scoring goals.
On the other hand, Real Madrid poses a significant challenge to Manchester United in terms of the signing of Gyokeres. Sky Germany has reported that the Spanish giants are currently keeping a careful eye on the striker, while Bayern Munich is also reportedly conducting this monitoring.
According to the source, Barcelona and Manchester City are also interested in the 26-year-old player, who has scored 30 goals and provided six assists in 28 matches across all competitions so far this season. All of these accomplishments have been scored by him.
Sky Germany has also provided an explanation of the plans that Gyokeres has. In spite of the fact that Real Madrid, Manchester United, and City have shown interest in the striker, he has made the decision to remain with Sporting during the January transfer window. It is his goal to reach the end of the season with the Portuguese superstars.
There is a possibility that Gyokeres will depart during the summer of 2025. It is possible that a transfer fee of €60 million (£49.8 million, $62.2 million) to €60 million (£58 million, $72.5 million) would be sufficient to entice him to leave Lisbon.
Viktor Gyokeres is not likely to sign with Manchester United in January.
Even though Amorim has worked with Gyokeres in the past and is familiar with the player on a deep level, it is going to be very difficult for the Premier League team to pull off a deal. This is especially true now because Gyokeres wants to remain at Sporting and has numerous other possibilities, including Madrid and City.
TEAMtalk reported earlier this month that Manchester United do not possess the financial resources necessary to make significant signings during the transfer window that occurs in January.
They need to sell players in order to make it possible for big stars like Gyokeres to acquire new contracts. Given that Manchester United will not be participating in the Champions League in the upcoming season, it is possible that Gyokeres would not be interested in a transfer to Old Trafford, despite the fact that players such as Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee could depart the club.
Gyokeres could realistically only arrive at Old Trafford in the summer of 2025, according to sources who had previously told TEAMtalk. Sky Germany’s most recent report about the striker’s decision to continue playing for Sporting for the remainder of the season lends credence to the aforementioned statement.
Nuno Mendes’ most recent news, as well as Casemiro’s departure from Manchester United
Gyokeres is not the only player that Amorim has his sights set on right now, despite the fact that United is having a terrible season. As for the Red Devils, they are also trying to add a new left defender, and Nuno Mendes is a player that they are considering.
The left-back for Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly in the process of being acquired by Manchester United. Amorim believes that the 22-year-old is the ideal left-back for the way that he prefers to position himself on the field. Man United believes that they are in a strong position to get a deal done during the January transfer window thanks to the fact that the youngster is having a difficult time finding playing time at Paris Saint-Germain.
There is a possibility that players will leave Old Trafford this month, and Antony is one of those players. The Brazilian winger has been a huge disappointment at Old Trafford since his move from Ajax in 2022 and is available for a transfer in January. Real Betis and Olympiacos are keen on Antony> and loan approaches have been made, according to reports.
Marcus Rashford might possibly be at a different club after the January transfer window ends, and so could defensive midfielder Casemiro. The Brazilian has had a mixed time at Old Trafford and has failed to live up to expectations. Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr want to sign the former Real Madrid ace.
