Jude Bellingham demand made by UEFA as FA hold England Euro 2024 suspension belief

Jude Bellingham, an England star, has apparently been in contact with UEFA in response to his contentious goal celebration during his team’s Sunday victory over Slovakia in the Euro 2024 competition. The Real Madrid striker may face punishment after making a gesture that appeared to be aimed at the Slovakia bench while cupping his groyne area. Yet, FA executives are reportedly certain the player won’t receive a suspension.

With the Three Lions losing 1-0 at the time, Bellingham saved face for England in the 95th minute with an incredible bicycle kick into the net’s corner. Then, early in extra time, Harry Kane struck the game-winning goal.

Following the game, Bellingham rushed to social media to defend his celebration. However, the 21-year-old is still nervous about playing against Switzerland in the quarterfinals of the competition.

The Star claims that Bellingham has received a letter from UEFA asking him to provide an explanation for his celebration. The organisation has also gotten in touch with the FA to request an explanation.

UEFA will also speak with coaches and players in Slovakia to hear their accounts of what transpired. However, FA chiefs think the body that oversees European football might wait until the tournament is over to address the situation.

UEFA is presently looking into Bellingham for what they consider to be a “potential violation of the basic rules of decent conduct.” Additionally, everyone has been given 72 hours to reply to the organization’s information request.

“[The] ethics and disciplinary inspector will conduct a disciplinary investigation regarding a potential violation of the basic rules of decent conduct by the English FA player, Jude Bellingham, having allegedly occurred in the scope of this match,” a UEFA spokesperson confirmed the investigation had been launched at the beginning of the week.

Following the event, Bellingham posted on X to clarify the meaning of his X-rated gesture, writing, “An inside joke gesture towards some close friends who were at the game.” Only admiration for the Slovakian team’s performance tonight.

Later on the same platform, former England striker Gary Lineker took aim at football administrators, writing: “For crying out loud, the @EURO2024 celebration police are looking into @BellinghamJude.” ludicrous

Bellingham will be itching to play when England and Switzerland square off in the quarterfinals on Saturday in Dusseldorf.

Despite scoring England’s first goal of the tournament against Serbia and emerging as the tournament hero against Slovakia, the breakout star has found it difficult to return to his best in Euro 2024.

During the most recent European Championship, England lost heartily to Italy in a penalty shootout in the championship match. And this time around, Gareth Southgate’s team will be exerting every effort to advance.
