In the face of harsh criticism for his job, Scott McTominay has praised Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, saying the Dutchman deserved to win the FA Cup last month. Ten Hag’s future is still up in the air two weeks after the historic Wembley victory, as INEOS wraps up their season evaluation in front of their first transfer window under their new management.

Nevertheless, he has the support of one of his key players in the public eye throughout a challenging 2023–24 season in the Old Trafford dugout.

McTominay’s ten goals from the previous season were surpassed in all competitions only by Bruno Fernandes and Rasmus Hojlund.

In United’s worst-ever Premier League season, Ten Hag was further spared the humiliation as many of his goals came as a replacement.

According to recent speculations, this week will see a decision regarding his future. But according to recent reports, INEOS’s review may go into its third week.

Prior to the FA Cup final, there was a lot of coverage about how likely it was that the 54-year-old would lose his job no matter what happened.

Following United’s 2-1 triumph over City, there has been more conjecture than ever because of the outcome and the team’s performance.

However, McTominay has praised Ten Hag, praising his boss for managing the extraordinary pressure that comes with the position.

People are occasionally free to express their thoughts and say anything they choose. Although City is a fantastic squad, we stayed united,” McTominay said to the Mail.

“More times like that is what I want.” After seeing that FA Cup final, I thought to myself, “You know what, I want more of that.” That’s what drives me.

“Erik deserves all the praise. It’s challenging because of the media. Given the size of the team, that is true for every manager of Manchester United. That’s just typical, but he’s handled it wonderfully.

“I am incredibly happy for him. He was worthy of that FA Cup. When you succeed when everyone else is writing you off, it’s not easy.

It has a significant impact on the atmosphere of confidence and feeling in the area. As players, we are aware of the club’s size. Positive or negative, everything that comes our way is what we anticipate.”

Although McTominay is anticipated to stay at United, the team will probably consider bids for his signing, much like they did the previous summer.

Ten Hag was prepared to approve the sale of the Scotland international, but the £40 million asking price was not fulfilled. The closest was West Ham United, whose £30 million bid was turned down.

The signing of a new midfielder by the Red Devils may further curtail McTominay’s playing time and raise the possibility that he seeks a fresh challenge outside of his boyhood club.
