Liverpool is well-documented to have a number of next-generation starlets following in the footsteps of eminent footballing fathers in their present ranks, with several having already had an influence on the Reds’ first team.

While Thiago Alcantara, whose father Mazinho won the 1994 World Cup with Brazil, has left and retired, Stefan Bajcetic’s father Srdan used to play at Celta Vigo, while Jimmy, the dad of Nat Phillips, used to play for Glasgow Rangers as well as Bolton Wanderers in the Premier League.

In their young ranks, you will also discover Bobby Clark (son of Lee Clark), Lewis Koumas (Jason Koumas), Jayden Danns (Neil Danns), Keyrol Figueroa (Maynor Figueroa) and Prince Kobe Cisse (Djibril Cisse). Look beyond father and son; Owen Beck is also great nephew of Ian Rush.

Many of these starlets have already represented the first team, and given most senior stars missed from pre-season training following Euro 2024 or Copa America, will have the chance to wow incoming head coach Arne Slot this summer.

Jaden Heskey, the son of Emile Heskey, has been called up by Guardiola and will be hoping to make an impression on the first team of City this summer. Last season, the 18-year-old made 36 appearances across Premier League 2, EFL Trophy, UEFA Youth League, FA Youth Cup, and U18 Premier League, scoring a respectable 11 goals, one of which came in City’s FA Youth Cup victory over Leeds United. Although Heskey Jnr. can play in center-midfield or as a number 10, he is a striker just like his father. Because City mostly plays one man upfront, it is possible that he will replace Haaland in attack at some point during this preseason. Don’t worry, Jaden!
