Ruben Amorim has met with players and senior staff since coming at Old Trafford ahead of his debut game against Ipswich, but he has not yet participated in a training session at Manchester United.

Since taking over as Erik ten Hag’s successor, Ruben Amorim has made his first demand known to his Manchester United teammates.

To his team, the 39-year-old head coach said, “We have to have fun.” “I am ‘thrilled’ to have arrived at Old Trafford,” Amorim added, addressing a small group of United’s players who stayed at Carrington during the international break.

Amorim served a notice period with Sporting Lisbon after being named Ten Hag’s replacement on November 1; he even helped the team defeat Manchester City during that time. On Monday, the former Portugal midfielder and his coaching staff made their first appearance in Manchester.

Luke Shaw, Mason Mount, Kobbie Mainoo, Lenny Yoro, and Toby Collyer were the five players Amorim met for the first time on Tuesday. Additionally, he visited with academy players Daniel Armer, Amir Ibragimov, and Ruben Curley who had trained with the first squad.

While awaiting his visa, Amorim has been unable to begin training with United right away, but he has attended several meetings. Chief executive Omar Berrada, sporting director Dan Ashworth, and technical director Jason Wilcox have all welcomed them.

After Ten Hag and Ruud van Nistelrooy left, Andreas Georgson and Darren Fletcher remained, and Amorim also met with coaching staff members on Tuesday. It has been revealed that Pieter Morel, Jelle ten Rouwelaar, and Rene Hake will be leaving the club.

According to reports, the new Red Devils manager has already made some snap decisions about his team. Although Mason Mount has had a challenging time since signing from Chelsea, he has been targeted for a major part under Amorim.

The Portuguese coach “admires” Mount’s adaptability, which may be advantageous given that Amorim is anticipated to stick with the 3-4-3 formation. However, not all of the players seem to have performed as well.

According to reports, Joshua Zirkzee was judged “not adequate” despite expectations that Amorim would improve United’s struggling goal scoring performance. The former Benfica player may consider a move for Viktor Gyokeres, a striker for Sporting.

After leading Sporting for the last time, Amorim is prepared to assume his new position. Over the weekend, he declared, “I feel ready for the new challenge,”

“I am not naive; I am aware that it would be really challenging and strange. Now I’m calm. I’m excited to start my new job tomorrow and can concentrate on it.
