TalkSport broadcaster Jeff Stelling has selected Bukayo Saka over Mohamed Salah for his Premier League title race XI, comprising players from Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal. Furthermore, he acknowledged that he anticipates facing severe criticism from Liverpool fans for making this choice.

Ally McCoist, who was involved in the selection process, held a different opinion from Stelling and opted for Salah. Salah, who plays for the current Premier League leaders Liverpool, has made a significant contribution of 24 goals in 21 league games. Conversely, Saka has achieved a total of 13 goals and 10 assists in 26 matches with Arsenal.

McCoist conveyed his astonishment at Stelling’s choice, stating: “It is truly remarkable that Salah is not included in the playing lineup!” I am positioning Salah on the right side, Haaland in the central position, and considering Foden’s current form, he may be regarded as the finest player in the country.

Stelling defended his decision by referring to the “enthusiasm and energy of young people”. He stated that it is unquestionable that Haaland and Foden are exceptional. I have chosen Saka over Salah due to Saka’s exceptional performance.

“Upon examining the statistics, it is evident that there is minimal disparity between them.” I have embraced the excitement that comes with being young. Saka’s youth gives him an advantage, which is why I have chosen him over Salah. However, I acknowledge that I am likely to receive severe criticism from Liverpool fans.

Stelling and McCoist engaged in a lighthearted exercise of selecting their top Premier League teams, however they could not reach a consensus on every aspect. They selected Rodri, Kevin De Bruyne, and Declan Rice as their choices for controlling the midfield.
