It has been revealed by TEAMtalk that David Moyes is very close to returning to Everton after being away for more than 11 years. The manager has been offered an initial short-term agreement, and the contract structure is expected to evolve beyond that first term.

Following his departure from West Ham in June 2024, Moyes has not been in a managerial position since that time. It was Julen Lopetegui who took over as manager of the club after he was fired, and he has now been granted his termination.

Sean Dyche, the manager of Everton, was fired the next day, making him the most recent Premier League manager to be fired this season.

TEAMtalk said that Everton had booked discussions with Moyes for the next day, which was Friday, January 10, regarding Moyes’s potential return to the club. The Scottish manager departed the Toffees for Manchester United in July 2013, after having coached more than 500 games at Goodison Park during his time with the Liverpool club.

We are now able to disclose that he is getting closer and closer to returning to Everton.

According to reports cited by TEAMtalk, Moyes will be offered an initial contract that is for a period of six months. On the other hand, his contract will be extended to cover the subsequent two years throughout the summer.

At Goodison Park, Moyes will be joined by Billy McKinlay, who was Moyes’ assistant at West Ham in the past. In addition, Leighton Baines will continue to serve in the capacity of an assistant.

A former left-back and an icon of the club, the individual in question has been serving as a coach for the academy and has taken over as the caretaker manager of the first squad after Dyche was fired. The FA Cup triumph over Peterborough was 2-0, and he and Seamus Coleman, who is still a member of the club’s roster, were the ones who oversaw it.
