For €24.5 million, Chelsea is expected to acquire Villarreal custodian Filip Jorgensen, according to Fabrizio Romano. He will sign a seven-year deal that will keep him with the team through 2031.

The Danish youth international has signed a contract with the Blues to challenge Robert Sanchez for the top slot. The club will be losing Djordje Petrovic, who had a disappointing first season.

Jorgensen, who made a name for himself in Spain last year, was chosen by Chelsea, who knew they needed a new custodian this summer.

Although the 22-year-old’s statistics aren’t very noteworthy, there’s a good chance Stamford Bridge will help him grow.

With 65 goals allowed in La Liga this season, Villarreal conceded the third-most goals of any team, with Jorgensen in goal for 63 of those goals. He only succeeded in six clean sheets, and his goals prevented the total from standing at -1.02.

Chelsea has strengthened their youth philosophy, opting to sign unproven players rather than seasoned veterans rather of taking a chance.

Additionally, a £17 million agreement to sign Aaaron Anselmino has apparently been finalised by the West Londoners.

Although a deal to get the 19-year-old center-half from Boca Juniors has been in the works for some time, Chelsea is now the clear winner.

According to reports, Anselmino is flying to the US for a medical examination. He will be one of the most costly sales in Boca Juniors’ history once the transfer is finished.

After completing his training with Boca, Anselmino made his first-team debut in June 2023. Chelsea has seen enough in Diego Martinez’s few appearances for them to decide to sign him despite his little playing time.

Until the end of the Argentine domestic top-flight season in December, Anselmino will be loaned back to Boca.

Chelsea will play Scottish Premiership powerhouse Celtic tonight as part of their ongoing preseason preparations in the United States.
