Leny Yoro, a teenager, had his mind changed after witnessing Manchester United win the FA Cup, and decided to join them despite offers from teams like Real Madrid.

Leny Yoro acknowledges that he was persuaded to join the Red Devils this summer after witnessing Manchester United win the FA Cup.

Despite interest from Real Madrid, the teenager ultimately decided to transfer to Old Trafford despite being courted by a number of European clubs. The highly-rated center-half, who hopes to build on his exploits at Wembley, cost United more than £50 million to acquire.

A few months ago, United defeated their neighbours Manchester City to rescue their season. Despite being significant underdogs going into the championship game, Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo’s goals helped Erik ten Hag’s team win 2-1.

After winning the Carabao Cup the previous season, it was their second domestic trophy in as many seasons. Though they are still far from contending for the Premier League, United has started winning under Ten Hag, and their most recent triumph surprised Yoro.

He stated to MUTV: “When I saw the FA Cup win at the end of the season, for me, I really wanted to be with them because to win titles and celebrate with the fans – it’s incredible.”

United also avoided a few serious scares on the way to the championship. They needed VAR to prevent them from losing in extra time in the semi-final after they let a 3-0 lead over Coventry slip away. Earlier in the tournament, they also meandered to a victory over Newport of League Two.

Despite finishing ninth, they will compete in Europe next season because to their FA Cup success. Yoro will strengthen Ten Hag’s backline, which faltered due to injuries during the previous season.

Rio Ferdinand also persuaded the 18-year-old to go to Manchester by calling him and presenting the team’s case. “I spoke with Rio for the first time about two weeks ago,” Yoro recalled. “He gave me a call. First of all, I was really impressed by him when I spoke with him. We talked about Manchester United for about ten minutes, and he was really helpful in helping me decide. It was truly a privilege to talk to him.

He told me about the club and how it’s a big, historic club with a fascinating history. He also said that since it’s the biggest club in the world, I should be prepared to battle for the club if I go there. I thought it was incredibly beneficial to talk about this.
