James Maddison, a star player for Tottenham, was the first player to go from England’s training camp last night. Gareth Southgate is getting ready to announce his final 26-man selection ahead of Euro 2024.

The first player to be dropped from Gareth Southgate’s final 26-man roster is James Maddison.

After learning he was one of the seven players to lose out in the intense competition for the wide and forward positions, Tottenham midfielder Maddison left the England camp. Jarrod Bowen of West Ham has been playing better, but Southgate has until Friday at 11 p.m. to submit his team to UEFA.

But, ahead of Friday’s friendly with Iceland, when it will be difficult to conceive any players not heading to the Euros will be part, players are sure to receive hints about who will be left off of the team selection. Because of concerns about Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw’s fitness, Southgate will bench one custodian and bolster his defence with a large number of players, while Curtis Jones might find it difficult to play in the middle of the pitch.

Since England is unlikely to select three centre forwards, Ollie Watkins or Ivan Toney may be in danger. While Kieran Trippier’s strong performance against Bosnia and Herzegovina erased any doubts about his fitness, Southgate is unlikely to have seen anything yet to significantly alter his starting lineup.‌

Although Trent Alexander-Arnold may have demonstrated enough to play alongside Declan Rice in midfield at the Euros, more decisions need to be made than Southgate would likely prefer at this late date. Since Maddison is out, Dean Henderson, Jarrad Branthwaite, Jarell Quansah, Joe Gomez, Curtis Jones, and Ivan Toney are the other six players who could be in danger.

Before the Bosnian match, Southgate was asked directly about Jack Grealish’s chances of being cut, and it appears like he will make the squad. We’re not really defining that yet, in my opinion. We are aware of our potential location,” the England manager retorted.
