“It is an obvious penalty for anyone with a comprehension of football,” stated the German during an interview with Sky Sports. He elaborated, “If the ball had not been there, he would have struck the player.” Therefore, the movement of the foot is crucial.
Interestingly, even after reviewing the situation, VAR made the decision not to interfere or request a more detailed study by the on-field referee.
