Find out about the latest injuries to the Manchester United team and how they are likely to line up against Liverpool in the Premier League.
Liverpool, an old foe of Manchester United, will visit Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon in one of the most anticipated Premier League games so far. However, head coach Erik ten Hag will have to deal with a number of fitness concerns before the game.

The home team was already going to be missing five players before £55 million midfielder Mason Mount got hurt in last weekend’s 2-1 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion. He will now not be able to play against Arne Slot’s team, but United may be able to give at least two new players their full debuts.

Below is the most recent news about the team, any injuries, and our best guess for the starting lineup. Anyhow, if you need any help before the Fantasy Premier League deadline, you can read our resident expert’s most recent tips column by going here.

Defence and custodian
Summer sign-up Matthijs de Ligt hopes to make his first start for Manchester United after coming off the bench for both of their league games so far. He may replace Harry Maguire in the middle of defence, while Diogo Dalot and Nouassir Mazraoui are likely to stay at fullback.

Victor Lindelöf (toe), Luke Shaw (calf), and Leny Yoro (foot) are all out until. Shaw and Lindelöf might be able to play again after the international break. Dutch wing-back Tyrell Malacia missed all of last season because of an ACL injury. He is still recovering and won’t be back until at least October.

Midfield
The press asked Ten Hag about the type and severity of Mount’s injury that led him to take him off at halftime at the Amex Stadium last Saturday. Ten Hag was vague, but Mount has since said that he has a muscle problem that will keep him out “for a few weeks.” He won’t be able to play against Liverpool, but he might be able to come back after the international break next weekend.

Manuel Ugarte probably won’t start, even though he should be officially signed by Manchester United and registered in time to play, as long as there aren’t any last-minute problems with the deal that will bring him from Paris Saint-Germain to Manchester. A lot of the time, Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo will start after Bruno Fernandes.

Moving forward
Even though his mother died the day before the game, Amad Diallo started and scored the equalising goal last week. He may keep his spot for a third straight league game ahead of Alejandro Garnacho.

Rasmus Højlund hurt his leg and won’t be able to play for at least three more weeks. This means that new player Joshua Zirkzee, who scored the first goal of the Premier League season after coming on as a substitute against Fulham, will probably start in the number nine position for the first time. Federico Chiesa could make his start for the hosts.

This is the team that will play Liverpool: Onana; Dalot; Martínez; De Ligt; Mazraoui; Casemiro; Mainoo; Fernandes; Rashford; Diallo; Zirkzee.
