Man Utd Must Sell £100m Duo Who Are a ‘Huge Financial Drain’ on INEOS

After both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee had disappointing seasons this season, Manchester United must consider cutting ties with the struggling striker combo.

With 33 points, the Red Devils are currently mired in 14th place in the Premier League standings and are headed for their worst season to ever. The focus has moved to getting the team ready for next season because any hope of success this season is dwindling after they were eliminated from both the FA Cup and the EFL Cup.

United would be prudent to replace Hojlund and Zirkzee, who have clearly struggled in this area, given a lack of goals has been one of Ruben Amorim’s main concerns this season.

Amorim is eager to bolster his forwards department this summer

Hojlund and Zirkzee have only combined for five league goals, which has made it difficult for Manchester United to play well this season.

The former was believed to be a top target for previous manager Erik ten Hag, and he was bought for a total package valued over £72 million. Hojlund scored 16 goals in all competitions in a strong debut season, but his total has fallen by more than half this year, and his performances have angered supporters.

Zirkzee, meanwhile, paid almost £36.5 million to join the team last summer, but he hasn’t been able to establish himself as a regular starter. In 27 league appearances, including 11 starts, he has only scored three goals.

According to their average FotMob ratings, both are among the worst players in the Premier League this season, and Manchester United needs to look to cut their losses on this “huge financial drain” that has cost them over £100 million.

Numerous forwards have been linked to the Red Devils, who could look to replace the £195,000-per-week pair. Most notably, according to Fabrizio Romano on GIVEMESPORT, Manchester United is expected to compete for the signing of Sporting star Viktor Gyokeres this summer.
