Man Utd transfer news: Barcelona eye Kobbie Mainoo as first summer deal ‘agreed’

With the transfer market officially open, Manchester United can finally start working on their transfer business now that they know who will be in charge for the upcoming season.

Now that the 2024 transfer season is open, Manchester United is ready to get off to a great start.

The Red Devils’ current playing group has already received a considerable investment from Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Erik ten Hag, the current manager, will be quite excited about that.

The Dutchman has been informed that he will be staying, but his status was previously uncertain. He might possibly agree to a new contract at Old Trafford.

Barcelona is considering Mainoo.

Kobbie Mainoo, a graduate of the Man United academy, was one of the Red Devils’ standout performers at Old Trafford the previous season. It’s possible that he won’t remain with the club for very long.

The youthful midfielder is reportedly being targeted by Spanish powerhouse Barcelona, according to sources from Belgium. But the Red Devils are also making every effort to hold onto him.

There are rumours that Man United representatives have initiated negotiations for a new contract after learning of Barcelona’s interest. The representatives of Mainoo are requesting an extension of his current contract along with a hefty pay rise. Three years remain on the 19-year-old’s Old Trafford contract.

Red Devils accept the terms of Branthwaite
Jarrad Branthwaite is a man who may be arriving, whereas Mainoo may be on his way out. The Everton defender has long been admired by the Red Devils.

And it seems like a deal might be getting closer. The Times reports that Man United and the England centre back have reached a personal agreement on a transfer.

The Red Devils are reportedly willing to pay him a weekly salary of between £150,000 and £160,000. Still standing in the way is the need to reach an agreement with Everton.

According to reports, the Toffees hope to get about £70 million for their standout defender. Should they be unable to reach a consensus on a move, the Red Devils have options.

If they don’t sign Branthwaite, Man United will have an advantage if they sign Lenny Yoro. The Lille standout is on the defensive shortlist of the Red Devils.

Real Madrid is reportedly interested as well, but they are unwilling to pay Lille’s asking price, according to Mundo Deportivo. The French side reportedly wants to bank €60 million, or £50.6 million, for the 18-year-old.

The youthful player is also of interest to Paris Saint-Germain. Yoro’s contract with Lille expires in the summer of next year, thus the team may be obliged to reduce their demands.
