The Manchester United bench has occasionally resembled a nursery in recent weeks, as Erik ten Hag faces the challenge of limited alternatives due to an ongoing and extensive injury crisis. However, amidst the children, there has been at least one someone with prior expertise. This person can be seen conversing on the bench and providing guidance as the others prepare themselves, but they rarely participate in the actual game. What is the current status of Christian Eriksen?
The individual, who is 32 years old, has recently been present on the team’s bench but has not been given the opportunity to participate in the game in eight out of the last nine matches. In the last two matches, Ten Hag has primarily fielded a lineup consisting of four central midfielders, although he has not utilized the services of the Denmark international. Scott McTominay has been included in the team against Manchester City and Everton, while Sofyan Amrabat has been substituted off the bench.
As Mason Mount gets closer to recovering from his injury, Eriksen’s prospects of playing are expected to decrease even further. Out of the last nine games, he only substituted in for one, which was the 2-1 loss to Fulham, when he played for 37 minutes.
