Mikel Arteta axes trio, £30m signing complete, wonderkid U-turns – Arsenal’s dream attack once £120m deal is completed

Although Arsenal has a strong offensive line already, Mikel Arteta needs to do better if he wants to see his team defeat Manchester City in the upcoming campaign. In light of this, attacking departures are imminent, but attacking arrivals cannot be completely ruled out before the July deadline.

With Bukayo Saka on the right, Gabriel Martinelli on the left, Kai Havertz up top, and Leandro Trossard offering a lethal option off the bench, the Gunners finished second in the Premier League the previous season.

Smith Rowe is anticipated to finalise a £35 million transfer to Fulham in the next few days; Nelson’s loan move to Leicester City has been discussed; and Nketiah is rumoured to be of interest to Marseille.

Their potential departures might open the door for Arteta to obtain some much-needed funds for the team and acquire a new offensive player. Havertz performed admirably up top last season, but the Gunners could use some new competition in the shape of a traditional No. 9 for the striker position.

After a 22-goal season in Amsterdam, Ajax forward Brian Brobbey is rumoured to have fans in north London. Additionally, defeating Manchester United in a £30 million deal to capture Brobbey would surely strengthen Arteta’s offensive line.

Arsenal fans will be drooling just thinking of the Dutchman competing directly with Havertz and, to a lesser extent, Gabriel Jesus for the middle slot, with Saka and Martinelli covering the flanks.

But the first-team photo isn’t everything. The possibility of losing teenage goal machine Chido Obi-Martin to United might come back to haunt the Gunners in the years to come, so it would be good for them to make future plans as well.

The 16-year-old striker, who scored 32 goals in 20 games for the Under-18s in 2022–2023—did not sign a scholarship agreement, as Arsenal disclosed earlier this month. Although it’s generally assumed that Obi-Martin will sign a free transfer and start a fresh career elsewhere, the Gunners should be making every effort to convince the wonderkid to reconsider by offering senior minutes.
