After being substituted in Chelsea’s 1-1 with Arsenal, Madueke immediately went down the tunnel.
Rio Ferdinand, one of several critics demanding harsh punishment for Madueke, was taken aback by the non-issue response.

Noni Madueke, who claimed he was just using the loo, acknowledged his astonishment at the response to his exit down the tunnel following his substitution in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal.

Madueke began the match but was replaced with 20 minutes left after a lacklustre performance. Despite his quick comeback, he received a lot of criticism for cutting a disgruntled figure and going right down the tunnel.

Several people openly criticised Madueke for leaving the game, including Rio Ferdinand, who said the “disrespectful” winger should receive a “two-week fine” for deserting his teammates.

But Madueke emphasised that he was just using the loo, as he always does after a game.

A perplexed Madueke clarified, “I literally went down the tunnel to go to the toilet and I came back 30 seconds later,” “I always head right down the tunnel to use the loo after watching a lot of games.

“It is nothing major at all.”

Enzo Maresca, the manager of Chelsea, had earlier stated that he didn’t mind Madueke’s disappointment with his substitution.

The manager of the Blues stated, “Players are never happy when you change them.” “Probably the only way to be happy is like the Wolves game, when he scored a hat-trick and we changed him, so he was happy.”
