Arsenal’s prospects of successfully recruiting Alexander Isak have been significantly enhanced by reports of complications regarding his contract extension at Newcastle.

The Gunners have been monitoring Isak for some time, extending back to his time at Real Sociedad. Newcastle paid £63 million for the Sweden international to transfer to the Premier League in 2022.

In an effort to ward off interest from other clubs, Isak was scheduled to follow Bruno Guimaraes and Anthony Gordon in committing his future to Newcastle. Nevertheless, reports from TBR Football have indicated that this may no longer be the case.

According to the report, Newcastle’s posture has left Isak’s entourage “shocked” as negotiations for a new contract at St. James’ Park have taken a new turn. It is alleged that a number of obstacles have arisen, such as a proposed release clause in the contract.

Eddie Howe’s team is fortunate in that Isak is under contract on Tyneside until 2028. Nevertheless, the absence of a new contract is probably going to put interested clubs on edge. Arsenal continues to be in dire need of a new centre-forward; however, they are not the only team in this situation.

TBR Football also reported that Liverpool and Manchester City have entered the competition, in addition to providing an update on Isak’s contract situation. Barcelona and Juventus are also believed to be long-term admirers of Chelsea, in addition to the latter two.
