Concern over Luis Diaz as Colombia fears major harm

Colombia is worried that Luis Diaz, an attacker for Liverpool, may have sustained a serious injury after being substituted out of Sunday’s FA Cup match against Manchester United by manager Jurgen Klopp.

In the 114th minute of Liverpool’s 4-3 quarterfinal loss at Old Trafford, Luis Diaz was replaced. The winger appeared a little uncomfortable as he hobbled off the field into extra time.

Diaz “felt his groin,” according to Klopp, who also revealed that Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo left Manchester with hamstring and ankle injuries, respectively.

According to AS, a “alarm” is going off in the Colombian national team camp because a few other important players, including left-back Cristian Borja of Braga and former Everton defender Yerry Mina, have already withdrawn from the team.

Even though Diaz isn’t quite back to his spectacular best yet, he has been playing better since the beginning of the year, so any long-term injury would be devastating for Liverpool and Colombia.

The 27-year-old will probably have scans done on his condition today to determine the severity of the problem and whether he can return to the national team this month.

WHICH PLAYERS FOR LIVERPOOL ARE ILL?

This weekend, Diaz, Nunez, and Gakpo might have joined some of the team’s most prominent players in the treatment area, adding their names to an already impressive list of injuries.

Curtis Jones has not played since the 4-1 victory over Brentford in the middle of February. He was not available against Manchester United, though Klopp hinted that he might be available for the match against Brighton following the international break.

Trent Alexander-Arnold was injured at the Gtech Community Stadium the week before the Portuguese, and Diogo Jota was also hurt there. Both players are anticipated to return in early April.

After sustaining a hamstring injury against Arsenal more than a month ago, Alisson is not available for Brazil during the international window. It is unclear when the goalkeeper will be able to fully recover.

Although Stefan Bajcetic has only played in two games this season, Klopp believes he will return to team practice following the international break.
