Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi has a £50.5 million release clause, and according to reports in Spain, Man Utd is preparing an initial offer of £37.8 million to recruit him.

Kobbie Mainoo’s midfield partner is being sought after by the Red Devils, and the Spanish international is once again in the spotlight.

Jim Ratcliffe has reportedly prepared an initial offer of 45 million euros (£37.8 million) to Man Utd to acquire Zubimendi’s services during the summer transfer window, according to the Catalan newspaper Nacional.

The 25-year-old star’s current Sociedad deal includes a £30.5 million (60 million euro) release clause, and it expires in three years.

According to the news source, the Txuri-Urdin will only permit the departure of their valued asset in the event that the £50.5 million contract clause is triggered.

A gifted player with versatility, Zubimendi primarily plays as a playmaker/deeply lying playbreaker in the No. 6 position, however he can also fill in as a central midfielder.

The six-cap Spaniard played in 31 La Liga games during the previous season, directly contributing to five goals.

Any departure from Sociedad will occur when the competition concludes next month, as he is a member of the La Roja team competing at the European championships.

In order to replace Casemiro at Old Trafford, Man Utd needs a strong No. 6 regista. Zubimendi would be a great addition to accompany Mainoo in the middle of the field.

Do you think Man Utd should utilise the £50.5 million option to buy Martin Zubimendi?
