Spanish club Sevilla has announced the death of former Arsenal, Sevilla, and Real Madrid midfielder Jose Antonio Reyes, who passed away at the age of 35 in a car accident.

Sevilla expressed on Twitter that they were unable to confirm news that was even more distressing.

Jose Antonio Reyes was a proficient Spanish footballer who primarily played in the position of a left winger.

At the young age of 16, he made his first appearance as a professional player for Sevilla. He then joined Arsenal in January 2004. He achieved the status of being one of the ‘Invincibles’ when Arsenal emerged as the champions of the Premier League without losing a single match in the 2003-04 season.

After a two-year absence, he came back to Spain and went on to play for the two biggest football clubs in Madrid, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid. He also achieved the feat of winning La Liga with Real Madrid.

Reyes returned to Sevilla towards the end of his career and achieved the remarkable feat of winning the Europa League three consecutive times from 2014 to 2016, setting a record with a total of five victories.

It was around this time that we encountered a young individual named Jose Antonio Reyes. In this memorable encounter, my wife kindly handed me a pen, and both of my sons and I had the privilege of obtaining his autograph. Shortly after, Jose tapped me on the shoulder and informed me, in imperfect English, that I had forgotten my pen, sir. Rest in peace, Antonio. You will forever remain in our hearts.
