Dan Ashworth, who had been serving as Manchester United’s sporting director for only five months, left his position in December. Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already assembled his new senior staff at Old Trafford.

Following the dismissal of Dan Ashworth, Sir Jim Ratcliffe is in the process of finalising his new leadership team, and it is expected that Jason Wilcox will have his role increased.

Although Wilcox will continue to serve in the role of technical director, he will be given a more extensive scope of responsibility and will collaborate with Omar Berrada, the chief executive officer, on a day-to-day basis. It has been reported that Collette Roche, who serves as the chief operating officer, would also be given more duties. This will allow Wilcox to concentrate on performance-related issues rather than the operational systems that are responsible for running Carrington on a daily basis.

During the course of this season, Ratcliffe gave Berrada the authority to construct a new executive team following the dismissal of Dan Ashworth. Following Ratcliffe’s arrival at Old Trafford, the previous sports director was courted by the club, and in order to gain his services from Newcastle United, United was required to pay a compensation package.

Ashworth, on the other hand, only remained there for a brief period of time, and it is believed that he left with mutual accord after just a few months had passed. After United’s match against Nottingham Forest, it was announced that the former director was told of his resignation from the club.

It was reported by Mail Online that discussions were taking place on the possibility of replacing Ashworth with an external candidate; nevertheless, it was decided that no new hire would be given the title of sporting director. It has been asserted that a decision has been reached for the time being that there will be no individuals hired for the position.

In addition to Wilcox and Berrada, Sir Dave Brailsford will be a member of the three-person leadership team. He will be representing the ownership of the company. But United is planning to make another move in the near future.

United is reportedly interested in securing a long-term contract with Christopher Vivell, according to the source. The former Chelsea manager joined United in July as the temporary head of recruitment, and there is now an anticipation that his continued affiliation with the club might be agreed upon within the next few weeks.

United will be hoping that they will be able to go forward in a manner that is more solid. Even though there was a significant amount of investment done during the summer, the footballing structure was not able to assist a seamless transition. Ashworth played a significant part in the endeavour to restructure the club before he said his goodbyes.

“Dan Ashworth will be leaving his role as Sporting Director of Manchester United by mutual agreement,” said a statement that was released at the time.

“We would like to thank Dan for his work and support during a transitional period for the club and wish him well for the future.”
