The 2-2 draw between Manchester United and Liverpool once again highlighted the lack of game control from Erik ten Hag and his team.

After losing points against Brentford and Chelsea because of their lack of experience and questionable decision-making last week, United had a chance to make up for it against their strong opponents on Sunday.

With less than 10 minutes remaining in regular time, the home team was in a 2-1 lead. Nevertheless, Ten Hag relinquished complete control by substituting Alejandro Garnacho with Sofyan Amrabat.

This conservative decision diminished the speed and effectiveness of United’s forward line, leading to the dissipation of the threat posed by counterattacks.

Liverpool exerted further pressure on United’s defensive line, pushing them closer to their own goal. They managed to score the equalizing goal thanks to Mohamed Salah, who successfully converted a penalty after Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s poorly timed challenge.

Throughout the entire season, Ten Hag’s team has rarely dominated games from the beginning to the conclusion. Regrettably, the former Ajax player may also face the possibility of losing his employment by the conclusion of the season.

The Dutchman, who joined Old Trafford in the summer of 2022 with great potential and authority in transfer matters, selected Tyrell Malacia as his inaugural signing for United.

Significant changes have occurred since then, as Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS football squad are poised to take control of United’s transfer activities this summer. According to a report from Sunday Mirror (via TeamTalk), one of their initial actions may indicate that Malacia’s tenure at the club is coming to an end.

United is reportedly intensifying its interest in Girona’s left-back, Miguel Gutierrez.

The Spaniard, who developed his skills in Real Madrid’s school, has established himself as one of the most thrilling full-backs in La Liga this season.

Both Manchester United and Arsenal have regularly seen the highly agile Girona player, who possesses exceptional speed. It is worth noting that his contract includes a release clause of €35 million.

Furthermore, it is reported that Ratcliffe is resolute in his efforts to obtain Gutierrez’s services and is prepared to utilize his considerable financial resources to outpace competing contenders.

Wan-Bissaka played exclusively on the left side during the match against Liverpool due to the absence of both Luke Shaw and Malacia. Ratcliffe purportedly aims to resolve the issue of the left-back position by acquiring Gutierrez for Old Trafford.

His arrival should also facilitate the departure of Malacia. It is uncertain whether Ten Hag would support this progress and be willing to relinquish authority over transfers to INEOS.
