Aaron Ramsdale had experienced a somewhat uneventful comeback to the Arsenal starting lineup against Brentford until a calamity occurred towards the conclusion of the first half. During the first 45 minutes at Emirates Stadium, the Gunners exerted control, with Declan Rice scoring his sixth goal of the season in the Premier League. He skillfully redirected a cross from Ben White into the net.

Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard had opportunities to increase the hosts’ lead, but were unable to do so. Nevertheless, it seemed likely that they would go into halftime with the advantage, as Brentford posed little threat in their attacks. However, the situation quickly transformed inside a few of seconds before the break, when Yoane Wissa aggressively pursued a ball that was played back to Ramsdale.

Although the Arsenal goalkeeper made a great first touch, he hesitated in making his pass, giving the Bees forward an opportunity to make a sliding block, resulting in the ball ending up in the back of the net.

The England national team player was replaced in the starting lineup by David Raya, who was loaned from Brentford throughout the summer. However, Raya is not allowed to play against his own club. In the previous match, Ramsdale successfully prevented the opposing team from scoring, but he will not be able to perform the same feat this time.

Upon witnessing the ball go into his goal, Ramsdale promptly dropped to his knees, almost desiring the ground to engulf him. Moments later, the halftime whistle blew, prompting Ramsdale to walk wearily towards the tunnel. However, before he could reach it, the whole Arsenal bench offered solace to the goalkeeper in light of his catastrophic error.

Cedric Soares and Fabio Vieira were the initial replacements to provide their assistance, with Reiss Nelson following closely thereafter. Gabriel Jesus and Thomas Partey thereafter exchanged fist bumps with the 25-year-old individual while he somberly consumed water from his bottle. After making a mistake, Jamie Redknapp expressed his opinion on the goal, clearly indicating his feelings towards Ramsdale.
