Chelsea may be about to make a lot of money off of several players as they try to balance their budget.

Todd Boehly ‘offers’ two Chelsea stars to Saudi Pro League amid huge losses

Chelsea is reportedly planning a number of sales for this summer in an effort to balance the books after a stretch of extravagant spending. The Blues’ financial statements reveal a staggering £90 million loss, which is probably bad news for Financial Fair Play.

Although the overall FFP picture is more intricate than simple losses, clubs are only permitted a rolling maximum of £105 million in adjustable losses every three years. Whatever way you cut it, Todd Boehly, Chelsea’s partial owner, appears to already have a plan in place for how the team will raise money this summer.

Boehly has reportedly already spoken with Saudi Pro League commissioner Michael Emenalo to determine which players he can send to the Gulf this summer for a hefty sum of money, according to TalkSport. One of the players reportedly under discussion is Romelu Lukaku, who returned to Chelsea on a £100 million contract and only played there for one full season. Right now, the striker is back with AS Roma on loan.

Lukaku is going to cost Chelsea a lot of money, but the Saudi Pro League teams might be willing to pay more than their local rivals. The report claims that goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who has been on loan to Real Madrid this season, is also included on the list.

Chelsea invested £72 million on the goalie, but once more, they will probably suffer a significant loss. Real Madrid probably won’t pay a high price to retain him because they have Thibaut Courtois recovering from an injury. According to the report, Chelsea wants to make up to £100 million in sales this summer in order to make up for their extravagant spending during Boehly’s reign thus far. More sales are probably in store, though, as Lukaku and Kepa are unlikely to produce that much on their own.
