Man Utd vs Man City Player Ratings: Young duo impress but same issue remains for Erik ten Hag

Man City claimed their third Community Shield under Pep Guardiola
Manchester City surpasses its neighbours. Manchester United won the Community Shield on penalties, and at Wembley, a number of young players displayed their potential.
Jonny Evans, a veteran of Manchester United, had a terrifying moment that cost Manchester City the Community Shield in a penalty shootout.
Pep Guardiola’s team won their first trophy of the year as Evans’ penalty shoot went over the crossbar and Manuel Akanji’s penalty kick sealed the victory.
With nine minutes remained, Alejandro Garnacho repeated his exploits of scoring goals in the FA Cup final from just 77 days earlier, giving the four-time Premier League winners more Wembley anguish. However, in the nick of time, City’s Bernardo Silva headed a last-minute equaliser to make it 1-1 and force a penalty kick.
Jadon Sancho, who returned to United after a fight with Erik Ten Hag, saw his shot denied by Ederson, but Andre Onana made a save against Silva early in the shootout. Evans subsequently fired the eighth penalty goal for United over the net, and Akanji sealed a 7–6 victory for City.
Manchester City (4-3-3)
EDERSON SIX
Before he scored City’s fifth goal and denied Jason Sancho in the penalty shootout, part of his kicking was off.
LEWIS 6
looked good at right back once more, and he might have a great season for both the team and the nation.
AKANJI 6
Another player who occasionally appeared off speed but eventually recovered to contribute a shift was the Swiss defender.
DIAS 6
helped prevent United, and the interim captain for City gave them the stability they required.

GVARDIOL 6
The Croat had a busy afternoon against Amad Diallo while playing right back with composure and authority.
OREILLY SIX
With many of City’s big players still to return, the young player took advantage of his opportunity and was unfazed.
KOVACIC SIX
gave City’s youthful midfield some age and experience, and it gave Jeremy Doku a chance after one impressive run.
McATEE 7
demonstrated his worth for City by curving a shot against the far post, and he deserved better.
EVANS 6
The ever-green defender performed admirably for United over the first ninety minutes, but in the shootout, he missed his penalty.
MARTINEZ 6
was a reliable left-back for United who was asked to fill in during the preseason despite his lack of experience.
MAINOO #5
Erik ten Hag hurriedly brought him back, and the England player didn’t appear match fit.
CASEMIRO 6
performed admirably in the midfield holding position and demonstrated his range of passes.
AMAD 6.
was a threat to United on the right, and his missed shot should have resulted in a goal.
FERMINDES 7
The Portugal great continued where he left off from the previous campaign, and it was a shame that his excellent effort was called out for offside.
RASHFORD (4)
The striker, who is still struggling for consistency, missed a few excellent opportunities while playing on the left.
UPPER MOUNT 6
He had enough good moments to be United’s false nine, but he alternated with Fernandes.
Subs: Collyer (Mainoo 58) 6, McTominay (Mount 58) 6, Pellestri (Maguire 58) 4, Garnacho (Diallo 58) 8, Sancho (Rashford 83). 6.
Man of the Match: Alejandro Garnacho. Before scoring a fantastic goal, the supersub gave Rashford a terrific opportunity.
