Newcastle United‘will allow’ £76 million star to leave and possibly join Arsenal in the coming days, if Arteta can convince him with his project

Despite the obstacles attached to the possible move, Newcastle United is apparently planning to permit star midfielder Bruno Guimarães to join Arsenal for the 2024–2025 campaign. Since joining Newcastle from Lyon in January 2022, the Brazilian international has shown exceptional play, establishing himself as a vital member of Eddie Howe’s midfield. Several elite European teams have expressed interest in signing him as a result of his performances, with Arsenal emerging as the front-runners.
For Newcastle, breaking up with Guimarães has not been an easy decision. After spending a season with the magpies, the 26-year-old has been crucial to the team’s recent success, enabling them place in the top four of the Premier League and qualify for the Champions League once more. Nonetheless, it is acknowledged that Newcastle’s decision to consider the deal was influenced significantly by Arsenal’s tenacity and the player’s desire for a fresh challenge.
The deal’s financial component has proven to be one of the biggest challenges. Newcastle is not in a situation where they have to sell one of their valuable assets, thanks to the support of their affluent Saudi owners. But Arsenal is thought to have put together a very attractive offer that might involve player exchanges, performance-related bonuses, and a transfer cost that could top £70 million.
An additional obstacle has been the opposition from Newcastle supporters to Guimarães’ departure, considering his prominence and the enormous contribution he has made to the team. The Brazilian has forged a close relationship with the fans, so it would be painful to see him go.
All parties seem eager to come to an agreement in spite of these challenges. Should the transaction close, Arsenal would have pulled off a major coup, strengthening their midfield options as they go after national and European titles. To cover Guimarães’s hole, Newcastle will need to make prudent reinvestments in the interim.
