Atletico Madrid facing severe punishment after last night’s fiasco against Real Madrid – report

Atletico Madrid could be facing consequences after the recent incidents during their match against Real Madrid, according to a report from Jose Felix Diaz in MARCA.
The situation has reportedly raised concerns about the potential partial closure of the stands at the Metropolitano stadium for the next 2-3 matches, following what transpired in the clash.
It must be noted that referee Busquets Ferrer documented the events in detail, following the established rules throughout.
While it was the first time such a situation had occurred, the referee acted precisely as the regulations dictated. After consulting with team captains and delegates, the game continued without further interruptions until its conclusion.
The severity of the incident

The key question now is what the future holds for the Metropolitano stadium. Due to the severity of the incident against Real Madrid, the regulations suggest that Atletico Madrid’s fans could face a partial stadium closure.
The incident is considered serious enough that had one more violation occurred, Atletico could have faced an even harsher penalty, possibly including a forfeit of the match.
Current discussions suggest a likely penalty of closing off certain sections of the crowd for two or three matches.
The Competition Committee has solid grounds to impose this punishment, supported by the referee’s detailed report and the visible actions of some fans.
Among the concerning behaviours was the aggressive and nearly threatening conduct of fans located in the south stand, where some were reportedly unidentifiable and mingled with the Atletico players.
These incidents have happened before
While Atletico Madrid are expected to present their objections, the Spanish Football Federation has already made it clear that the incident will not be ignored. They have confirmed that appropriate actions will be taken in accordance with the regulations.
It is worth noting that this is not the first time this stadium has faced similar sanctions. Previously, the stadium was penalised with a partial closure after racist insults were directed at Nico Williams, although this decision was eventually overturned.
At the time, Atletico Madrid argued that there was no behaviour warranting punishment and that the club had taken steps to prevent any repeat incidents.
They also emphasised that only one fan had been responsible for the racist outburst and that it should not lead to punishment for the entire section of supporters.
Sunday’s Madrid derby at the Civitas Metropolitano will be remembered for years to come as one of the most heated atmospheres the game has seen.
