Breaking News: Man City win major Premier League legal battle amid £450m Everton fears
In their legal dispute with the Premier League over regulations that forbid related party transactions (APT), Manchester City has declared a significant victory.

In a dispute concerning associated party transactions (APT), Manchester City is said to have dealt a serious blow to the Premier League by declaring laws that attempted to forbid them to be illegal. As per The Times, seven elite teams submitted proof to bolster the league’s position.
City claimed that rules established in 2021, which a panel of three retired judges eventually determined to be unlawful, kept them from concluding two significant deals. The panel reached this conclusion after concluding that interest-free loans made to clubs by shareholders were not taken into account under the regulations.
According to the Times, Everton had shareholder loans of £451 million at the end of the 2022–2023 season. Going forward, these loans would need to be taken into account when calculating PSR.
Now, Manchester City can potentially sign bigger business partnerships with partners like Etihad, and Newcastle United might potentially sign agreements with Saudi companies as well. After a takeover, the APT regulations were implemented to stop clubs from inflating the value of agreements with partner businesses in order to avoid PSR.
Given that numerous other teams, like as Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton, and many more, have obtained interest-free loans from their shareholders, City successfully argued that these regulations were unconstitutional.
