Man Utd crisis meeting: Who’s attending and who will decide Erik ten Hag fate?

Manchester United’s officials, including Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Joel Glazer, and Sir Dave Brailsford, are scheduled to meet on Tuesday following the club’s terrible start to the season.

Manchester United’s executive committee is expected to convene in London following the club’s 0-0 draw with Aston Villa.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, United’s co-owner who has seized complete charge of football operations, was at Villa Park on Sunday to see the squad in person for the first time since they were crushed 3-0 by rivals Liverpool last month.

Manager Erik ten Hag has faced intense criticism since then, with United failing to win any of their past five games in all competitions. United has only won three games since the start of the current season.

And the Dutchman is now facing tough questions over his future after United’s worst start to a Premier League season, with Ratcliffe hosting a board meeting on Tuesday that included all club executives.

Who will be in attendance?

Ratcliffe is a member of a three-person group that makes all major club decisions, alongside United co-chairman Joel Glazer and INEOS’ director of sport, Sir Dave Brailsford.

All three will attend the conference, with Glazer coming in from the United States. Chief executive Omar Berrada, sporting director Dan Ashworth, and technical director Jason Wilcox will all be in attendance.

The remaining two names on United’s executive committee are chief financial officer Roger Bell and chief operating officer Collette Roche, who will meet once a month to discuss the club’s future.

Who will determine Ten Hag’s fate?

Ratcliffe, Glazer, and Brailsford will ultimately determine whether Ten Hag stays or leaves, but Berrada, Ashworth, and Wilcox will have a significant impact.

They are the ones that work at the club on a daily basis, and Ratcliffe has already stated that he would depend on their suggestions about the manager’s future. When asked if he still believed in Ten Hag ahead of the Villa game, Ratcliffe told BBC Sport: “At the end of the day, it is not my decision.

“The management team that runs Manchester United must decide how to best operate the team in a variety of ways. However, Manchester United’s current management team has only been in place since June or July. They weren’t there in January, February, March, or April; [CEO] Omar and Dan Ashworth just came in July.
