In his debut, Ruben Amorim gave Manchester United the lead within two minutes, but Ipswich Town held the Red Devils to a 1-1 draw at Portman Road.

After Manchester United lost to Ipswich Town in Ruben Amorim’s debut, Roy Keane has once again questioned the team’s performance.

After Amorim left Sporting Lisbon during the previous international break, the Red Devils traveled to Portman Road on Sunday under the leadership of a new permanent manager. Additionally, United failed to find a second goal as Omari Hutchinson restored parity just before halftime, despite Marcus Rashford giving Amorim a dream start with a goal inside 90 seconds.

Given that United under his predecessor, Erik ten Hag, has performed poorly, Amorim has a big task ahead of him at Old Trafford. Due to Sunday’s tie, United is currently ranked 12th in the Premier League.

Keane has previously criticized United’s players, and the Irishman did not hold back in his evaluation on Sunday, lamenting the fact that his old team had once again suffered from a lack of talent and goals.

After the game, he told Sky Sports, “We saw the shape of the team but it is the same players and the same problems.”

“We discuss spots and leopards. The second half was lacking in quality and goals. Ipswich appeared to be the superior squad. He’s playing his first game. He [Amorim] has had a difficult week and has a lot to process, but in the end, he will be let down.”

Additionally, Keane stated: “He has serious issues. There was little danger in the second half, and it appeared as though Ipswich would win. This season, they haven’t won at home. He’s just been with Man United for a week, but they have the same issues.

“You have to give the man a chance, but Man United is facing a serious challenge moving forward. It’s insufficient.

Ed Sheeran gatecrashed Amorim’s post-match interview on Sky Sports, explaining that it will take time to improve United’s performance on the field.

“I know it is frustrating for the fans, but we are changing so much right now with so many games,” he remarked. Our suffering will last for a very long time. Although it will take time, we shall attempt to win games.

“We have to risk it a little bit [now] and in the next year we will be better [otherwise] next year at the same stage we will be here with the same problems.”
