The departure of Toby Collyer, which was scheduled to take place this month, has been postponed by Manchester United in response to reports that the midfielder is now expected to play a significant role in the team under the direction of Ruben Amorim. However, due to his more prominent position, two other Red Devils players are in for even more bad news.

It was in March of 2022 when the 21-year-old player made the transfer from Brighton’s academy to Manchester United. At Brighton’s academy, he had been regarded as one of the most promising young midfielders in the game. After signing a contract that would keep him at Old Trafford for three and a half years, the youngster would eventually make his debut for Manchester United in the Community Shield match against Manchester City at Wembley Stadium in the summer of 2017. This was only a few weeks after the player had signed an extension with the club that would take him through the summer of 2027.

Despite this, United were open to the notion of letting Collyer to go this month. Former Red Devils interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy was eager to take the player to Leicester City. This was due to the fact that first-team opportunities were restricted and the road into the first-team was barred.

In the beginning, United had granted the Foxes permission to sign the player on loan until the end of the season. The transfer to the King Power was considered to be the optimum option for increasing the amount of playing time that the defensive midfielder would receive. However, Collyer has now convinced Amorim that he is deserving of more regular involvement at Old Trafford. This came about as a result of a late cameo off the bench in Sunday’s hard-fought FA Cup third-round triumph over Arsenal on penalties. During this match, United had to endure for close to an hour while playing with just 10 men.

And in order to provide an explanation for Amorim’s change of heart about Collyer, The Athletic now asserts that he is going to play a more important position in Amorim’s midfield for the remainder of the season. Furthermore, the increased minutes that he will be playing each week might be detrimental to Casemiro and Christian Eriksen.

The contract of the midfielder is set to expire in June of 2027, and there is an option to extend it by one year. According to a piece written by writer Carl Anka, the club has no intention of loaning him away this month. However, considering Eriksen and Casemiro’s lacklustre performance, it is possible that Collyer may play in more matches.

At this point, he is not yet the completed product. In the same way that many other members of United’s current team are still learning the complexities of what their head coach needs, both on and off the ball, Collyer is still learning these qualities.

When it comes to Collyer, what has Amorim stated, and what are the following steps for Casemiro, Eriksen?

The spirited performance that Collyer delivered on Sunday at Emirates Stadium provided United with the energy and determination to ensure that Arsenal could not make their extra man advantage count. Few could deny that United deserved their victory on penalties after being forced to continue playing with 10 men as a result of Diogo Dalot’s careless second bookable offence.

As Amorim expressed his thoughts on the 21-year-old player after the game, he was undoubtedly pleased.

Amorim, who was well-known for fostering youngsters at Sporting CP, claimed that “it was really important because [it] gives us more strength, and then with less one player, he’s really hard to press.” Amorim was a member of the team that won the championship.

“It is really difficult to press a team like Arsenal with 11 players, imagine with 10 players, and then you are in a disadvantage, [it] is really difficult because they can control the ball,” said the coach when asked about the difficulty of pressing Arsenal. In a great number of instances, they were already successful in controlling the ball. The game needed to be won, or at the very least, it needed to be drawn.

United will make their return to action on Thursday night when they take on Southampton, a team that is currently finishing in the bottom three of the Premier League standings. Southampton has only collected six points from their 20 matches played so far. A loss of any kind will be regarded as a lost opportunity for Amorim’s team, regardless of the final result.

In spite of this, it will be fascinating to observe whether or not Collyer is provided with more chances to demonstrate his abilities throughout the game; as a starting point, it appears that he will be able to keep his spot in the matchday squad.

On the other hand, his increasing engagement may hasten Eriksen and Casemiro’s exit from the club more quickly than they anticipated.

After the conclusion of the current season, the Dane’s contract will expire, and he will be able to depart the team as a free agent. As of the time this article was written, United had not yet received a definite offer for his services; nonetheless, it is possible that they are even open to the possibility of selling him this month.

In the case of Casemiro, Sir Jim Ratcliffe is anxious to sell him and eager to free the club of his £350,000 per week salaries. This is a similar situation to the one described above. In light of this, discussions on the possibility of relocating to Saudi Arabia are still going on, with Al Nassr being the one driving the charge. As things stand, there is no agreement in place about a transfer; nevertheless, according to insiders, it would not come as a surprise if an agreement were struck prior to the winter window closing for business.

A Wolves star is being considered for a transfer to Manchester United, and Rashford’s birthday is drawing near.
During this time, it has been rumoured that Manchester United are intending to make significant changes to their midfield in the coming months. It is also said that Amorim has apparently shown admiration for Joao Gomes, who is now playing for Wolves.

It has been said that United might even attempt to raid the Old Gold this month in order to get the 23-year-old player, and that they could do so with a massive asking price that has come to light. Liverpool is also interested in the former Flamengo player.

By selling Marcus Rashford, United’s second-highest earner, the club might perhaps free up some money that are desperately required for a new player to join the team. There has been a lot of literature published on the celebrity who earns £325,000 a week and has stated that he wants to leave.

On the other hand, a significant announcement regarding his future could eventually come about, as the player is about to make a decision on which club he would like to play for in the future, and there are sources that provide an insight into the player’s thinking.

And last but not least, it is rumoured that Amorim has notified INEOS of his ideal addition at Old Trafford, even though an answer to this query is not expected until this month.
