Man United release statement announcing transformation plan claiming ‘this cannot continue’

In a statement, Manchester United has confirmed that they have taken “additional measures to improve the club’s financial sustainability and enhance operational efficiency.”
After acquiring a 27 percent stake for one billion pounds and taking control of operations at United, INEOS, which is led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has been shown to be extremely unpopular with fans due to a number of cost-cutting measures.
A number of decisions have been made, including the termination of a long-standing agreement with legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson totalling 2.16 million pounds, the reduction of ambassadorial salaries and charitable funding, and the imposition of significant increases in the prices of tickets.
The club has stated in a statement that was published on their official website that they anticipate a further 150-200 jobs to be eliminated and will follow “a consultation process with employees.” This comes after 250 members of the staff were laid off during the summer.
According to United, the decision was made in an effort to put all Red Devils teams “in the strongest position to win” while also putting an end to five consecutive years of losses and returning to a profit.
CEO of Manchester United explains the decision
He stated, “We have a responsibility to put Manchester United in the strongest position to win across all of our teams, including our men’s, women’s, and academy teams.” Omar Berrada is the Chief Executive Officer of the club. We are beginning a comprehensive set of actions that will bring about a profound transformation and revitalisation of the club. Unfortuitously, this necessitates the announcement of additional potential layoffs, and we deeply regret the impact that this will have on those coworkers who will be affected. Nevertheless, in order to put the club back on a stable financial footing, these difficult choices are required.
For the past five years in a row, we have been experiencing a loss of revenue. This cannot go on like this. We as a club place a high priority on achieving success on the pitch for the benefit of our supporters, and we also work hard to improve our facilities. We are unable to make investments in these goals if we are consistently incurring financial losses.
By the time this procedure is complete, we will have a football club that is more efficient, nimble, and financially sustainable, all while maintaining our commitment to providing our valuable commercial partners with service of the highest possible calibre. We will then be in a much stronger position to invest in the success of football and to improve facilities for fans, all while maintaining compliance with the regulations of UEFA and the Premier League.
Jackie Kay, who is widely regarded as one of the most well-liked employees at the club, is anticipated to be among the staff members who will be terminated.
By the news that Kay, who has been with United in multiple departments since 1995, was surplus to requirements, the staff “were left “upset,” according to a report that was published in The Times.
A report stated that United had decided to stop providing free lunches to employees at the Old Trafford staff canteen in an effort to save one million pounds. This news comes after the report.
It has been reported by The Guardian that fruit will be served instead, which is a move that is comparable to the one that was made at Carrington, where employees who are not members of the first team are now only permitted to consume soup and sandwiches.
Mark Goldbridge referred to United as “disgusting” and “morally bankrupt” on X, which was formerly known as Twitter by its former name.
