Fabrizio Romano confirms Arne Slot given ‘green light’ for stunning deal as soon as transfer window opens

During the summer transfer window, Liverpool is reportedly going to make a move for a promising left back.

The Reds are currently enjoying a fantastic 2024–25 season, as they are 15 points ahead of Arsenal in the Premier League despite playing one more game.

In addition to reaching the Carabao Cup final, they will face Paris Saint-Germain in Tuesday’s second leg of the Champions League round of 16. They are ahead by a comfortable 1-0 margin.

Despite the on-field success, Slot may wish to bolster a few areas if he wants to build on what appears to be a title-winning Premier League campaign.

Current Liverpool contracts for Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold will expire this summer, leaving their futures uncertain.

Another possible weakness for Slot’s squad is the absence of a “number six” to step in for Ryan Gravenberch, the first choice.

In Monday morning’s GiveMeSport column, journalist Fabrizio Romano provided an update on the future of the Hungarian international, who was born in Serbia.

According to Romano, Liverpool showed interest in 21-year-old Kerkez in 2024 and, as of the summer of 2025, they “remain keen” on signing him.

Reasoning that Liverpool director Richard Hughes is familiar with the left-back from his stint with the Cherries, he made this claim.

Kerkez is reportedly “one of three main names” who have been “approved” by Slot, the head coach of the Dutch national team, who is looking to add a centre back and left back to his roster this summer, according to the Italian.

Speculation has it that the current Premier League leaders could pay €40–45 million (£33.6–37.8 million) to move, but the south coast club will decide on a final price closer to the summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old will remain under Bournemouth’s contract until June 2028. He has made 28 league appearances this season and has contributed five assists and two goals.
