Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira names his dream five-a-side team that would be absolutely unbeatable

Patrick Vieira has had an incredible 18-year career at the pinnacle of European football, playing alongside some of the greatest players in the history of the sport.

The great Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ballon d’Or winners Luis Figo and Fabio Cannavaro were among the teammates that former midfielder Vieira played with during his stints at AC Milan, Arsenal, Inter Milan, and Manchester City.

Perhaps the most successful years of his career were spent at Arsenal, where he captained the team under Arsene Wenger and won three Premier League titles and four FA Cups.

In an interview for the most recent Stick to Football episode, which is presented by Sky Bet, Vieira was asked to list his ideal five-a-side roster consisting of past teammates.

And he identified an invincible side.

“Definitely Dennis Bergkamp, Zinedine Zidane, I would go for Claude Makelele because you need people to run, and I would play Thierry Henry up front,” Vieira stated.

Bergkamp and Vieira were both members of the storied Arsenal team from the 2003–04 Premier League season, and they played together for eleven years.

Throughout Bergkamp’s 20-year career, the Frenchman was his most frequent teammate, with 285 appearances between them.

Zidane and Makelele, meantime, collaborated with the midfield player when playing for the French national team.

As one of just seven football players to win the Champions League as both a player and a manager, both with Real Madrid, Zidane is arguably the greatest French player of all time.

And although though Makelele was a player for Chelsea, the local rivals, Vieira still respected him because of his defensive midfield skills, which helped the London team win six titles in five years.

Thierry Henry, the eight-time winner of footballer of the year, was the last name on Viera’s team sheet.

Viera played with Henry for Arsenal and France as captain of both sides, and the two won the World Cup and multiple Premier League titles, including the invincible season.
