Man United and 24 goals/assists agreed to a €60 million agreement. PSG star whose final transfer stance was made public Manchester United nearly signed Xavi Simons from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of last year, according to German newspaper BILD.

The Dutchman was loaned to RB Leipzig after being re-signed by Les Parisiens from PSV Eindhoven with a €6 million buy-back clause last year.

BILD, however, assert that prior to his relocation to Germany, United submitted a transfer approach for €60 million.

Although Les Parisiens had already “agreed a deal” with the Red Devils, the player’s refusal to transfer to Manchester prevented a move from happening in the end.

The transfer offer did not sway Simons, and he signed a loan deal with Leipzig, where he has played 42 games and scored nine goals and provided fifteen assists.

Leipzig is reportedly eager to keep him on staff (perhaps on loan). It remains to be seen if United will launch a new signing attempt for the Netherlands star.

Man Utd is unlikely to make another attempt to acquire Simons.
Though the winger had other ideas, Simons was apparently a top target to help United’s assault.

His choice is not shocking in light of the fact that he was presumably worried about his playing time.

Marcus Rashford was a sure starter on the left wing for boss Erik ten Hag following his performance from the previous campaign.

Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, and Jadon Sancho were fighting it out for the right wing position for United.

Simons’ decision to turn down United for regular first-team action at Leipzig was most likely influenced by this.
