This week, Pep Guardiola met with Sheikh Mansour, the owner of Manchester City, in person and gave him the team’s most recent awards.

A group from City travelled to Abu Dhabi to meet the owner, who rarely attends games and was last seen at the Champions League final the previous year. Sheikh Mansour was given the UEFA Super Cup, the Club World Cup trophy, and the most recent Premier League trophy by Guardiola.

The National claims that the owner of City spoke with Guardiola and “emphasised that City’s title wins serve as motivation for the club to continue its progress,” in addition to saying that he “commends the efforts of the players.”

This statement is consistent with that of Sheikh Mansour’s close associate and chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak, who stated that the club’s success should be continued and that winning a fifth consecutive Premier League title is their goal for the upcoming season.

Together with Al Mubarak, CEO Ferran Soriano, and Sporting Director Txiki Begiristain, Guardiola met Sheikh Mansour. The owner of the team held out four fingers, grinning broadly, as they posed for pictures carrying the club’s four Premier League titles from the previous four seasons.

Pictures then showed Guardiola and Sheikh Mansour having a conversation. This was similar to earlier end-of-season trips to Abu Dhabi, where the manager, chairman, CEO, and Sporting Directors have talked about a variety of subjects, including the upcoming season. Guardiola’s current contract is nearing its end; prior extensions were agreed upon following midseason flights to Abu Dhabi for discussions with the owner.

Although Guardiola’s previous two contract extensions were in November and December, these most recent discussions will give supporters optimism for yet another new agreement. Guardiola will depart the club next summer, despite City’s wishes for him to stay, they acknowledge that it is his decision.

This month, the chairman’s annual interview was made public. Al Mubarak mentioned Sheikh Mansour’s and the larger City Football Group’s satisfaction with City’s advancement.

“As you can see, I’m happy today, and I believe that I speak for our management team, coaching staff, leadership, board, owner, His Highness Sheikh Mansour, and of course every member of our staff.” It is clear that everyone is happy and proud of what we have accomplished this year.

“As the [CFG] group’s main stakeholder, Sheikh Mansour has prioritised growth and value appreciation from the company’s inception. And in the process, every pound of profit has been reinvested in the company to fund expansion and improvement.

“As a result, we invest continuously. We constantly make investments in these clubs’ growth and infrastructure. We’re purchasing new groups. We keep growing and growing.”
