Hansi Flick Makes Decision On Leaving Barcelona Amid Club Brugge Draw

Barcelona could only draw 3-3 in Brugge despite falling behind three times.

Hansi Flick has decided on his future as Barcelona manager following their poor 3-3 tie with Club Brugge.

Barcelona entered the encounter in Belgium in the Champions League play-off positions, having won two and drawn one of their first three games.

They fell behind three times against Brugge, with former Manchester City academy player Carlos Forbs scoring twice each side of halftime.

However, Barcelona reacted each time with goals from Ferran Torres and Lamine Yamal, as well as an own goal by former Norwich winger Christos Tzolis.

They nearly conceded a disastrous goal in stoppage time when goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny misplaced the ball in his own penalty area, but goalscorer Romeo Vermant was adjudged to have fouled the Pole before slotting the ball into the empty net.

After winning La Liga during Flick’s first season, pressure has mounted on the German in recent weeks, particularly with last month’s 2-1 El Clasico defeat at Real Madrid.

The nature of Barcelona’s performance in Brugge, particularly the three goals conceded, is likely to put more pressure on Flick.

Les Cules have not maintained a clean sheet in nine games and were hammered 4-1 by Sevilla in La Liga in October.

But, according to Spanish journalist Alfredo Martinez, Flick is adamant about his future and has no wish to leave Barcelona.

Reports about his employment were reported to have been presented to him in the hours leading up to the Brugge clash, to which he just replied, “More garbage.”

Flick took over at Camp Nou in the summer of 2024, succeeding Barcelona great Xavi.

He previously led the German national team for two disappointing years, culminating in a shocking first-round elimination at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Prior to that, he won the 2020 Champions League title with Bayern Munich, after taking over on an interim basis in December following the dismissal of Niko Kovac.
