After shelling out a substantial number of money to acquire Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro this summer, it appears that Manchester United is now focusing on less expensive options available on the transfer market. Adrien Rabiot may be one such player.

The French international left Juventus at the end of the previous campaign, making him a free agent as of right now. Despite interest from several European circles, Man Utd jumped in and attempted to settle terms to bring him to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are reportedly getting closer to landing the midfield player, but a deal is still a long way off, according to Caught Offside.

The 29-year-old is seeking a contract for up to €15 million a year, or approximately £37.9 million over three years with the team.

Rabiot prefers the Premier League, especially Manchester United, but his agents are still in communication with major European teams like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Tottenham, Arsenal, and Liverpool, according to the source.

Erik ten Hag is not only interested in signing Rabiot as a midfield player. Yesterday, we reported on a report from Foot Mercato stating that the Red Devils and PSG are almost finalising an agreement to buy Uruguayan international Manuel Ugarte.

Rabiot’s future remains uncertain, as it has throughout his career, but Ugarte is seen by many as an amazing addition to the Old Trafford team. Even though the former PSG midfielder has a steady performance, he has always had his detractors.

Rabiot isn’t the most talented player on the pitch, but his hard work guarantees that he won’t be visually appealing. He is one of those players who, while they put in a lot of effort on the pitch, management always seem to appreciate, but fans hardly seem to.

It will be a triumph for Manchester United to sign Rabiot on a free transfer. Although they will have to give him a big contract, the 29-year-old is adaptable and can play a variety of positions on the pitch. If we are able to outbid the fierce competition for his signature, only time will tell.
