Manchester United double signings frustrated due to the delay at airport amid United’s medical as the Reds prepare for unveiling today
This morning, when the Bayern Munich players were travelling to England for their Manchester United medicals, Matthijs de Ligt left Noussair Mazraoui waiting at Munich Airport.
Bayern has accepted two transfer proposals from United totalling an initial £51.5 million for the two players. They will pay £12.9 million for Mazraoui and £38.6 million for De Ligt over a three-year period, plus an additional £4.3 million. Add-ons will bring the total cost of the contract to almost £17 million.
It happens one month after De Ligt during the European Championship verbally agreed to personal terms. Instead, in the face of interest from Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Paris Saint-Germain, the club signed Leny Yoro last month.
They have since identified Mazraoui as Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s replacement, as the latter is expected to sign with West Ham United. Rafaela Pimenta, a super agent, is the players’ representative.
They were seen arriving at Munich’s international airport earlier today, and they are now getting close to finishing their relocation to United. Mazraoui entered first, followed by De Ligt, who said to reporters waiting for them outside on Sky Germany, “Noussair is waiting for me!”
Their flight to Manchester departed around thirty minutes late because it appeared that the Dutch defence was running late to the airport. Later today, at United’s training facility, are scheduled medicals. The club anticipates wrapping up both agreements early this week.
They are getting ready to reveal the double signing. Club insiders claim that the individual contracts are moving forward, but they also admit that the two players will require visas. The agreements are scheduled to expire at the same time that Wan-Bissaka leaves, with United willing to pay the player more at West Ham through the summer of 2019—possibly up to £5.6 million.
The west London team may have to spend up to £20 million to acquire the right back. Five years ago, Wan-Bissaka signed a £50 million contract with Crystal Palace.
