Alex Anzalone among Lions’ inactive players in Week 3
Alex Anzalone among Lions’ inactive players in Week 3
The Detroit Lions will be without a defensive leader against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday afternoon in Week 3. Linebacker Alex Anzalone has been put on the team’s inactive list after he suffered a concussion against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2.
The Lions will lean on Jack Campbell, Malcolm Rodriguez, Derrick Barnes and Jalen Reeves-Maybin at linebacker on Sunday.
However, cornerback Terrion Arnold will be active this week after he caught an illness and missed practice two days last week.
It’s good news for the Lions’ secondary as they will also be without cornerback Ennis Rakestraw Jr. and safety Ifeatu Melifonwu. Here’s the full inactive list for the Lions on Sunday: S Ifeatu Melifonwu (ankle) CB Ennis Rakestraw Jr. (hamstring) LB Alex Anzalone (concussion) WR Isaiah Williams (abdomen) OL Giovanni Manu OL Colby Sorsdal LB James Houston
The Cardinals have the following players on their inactive list: OL Kelvin Beachum (hamstring) CB Darren Hall LB Jesse Luketa LB Victor Dimukeje OL Jon Gaines II TE Travis Vokolek WR Xavier Weaver The game kicks off at 3:25 p.m. CT.
The Detroit Lions are hitting the road for the first time this season, and the only time in their first four games before a Week 5 bye, in Week 3 against the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals are also 1-1, but it’s safe to say they’ve looked broadly better in their first two games than the Lions have.
On the injury front, the Lions had a number of concerns when this past week started. But wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown (quad) was not on the final injury report after practicing in full all week, and linebacker Alex Anzalone was listed as questionable as he moves through concussion protocol. Both suffered their injuries against the Buccaneers in Week 2.
Defensive end Marcus Davenport missed Week 2 with a groin injury, but he also has no injury designation this week and is set to play on Sunday.
Rookie cornerback Terrion Arnold missed practice time this week with an illness, but he was listed as questionable on Friday and should be good to go.

Left guard Graham Glasgow popped up on Wednesday’s practice report with a knee injury, but he was listed as questionable and head coach Dan Campbell said he was “good” for Sunday’s game.
The Lions did rule two players out on Friday.
Rookie cornerback Ennis Rakestraw was a late scratch with a hamstring injury last week, and he’s out again after not practicing all week.
Safety Ifeatu Melifonwu will miss his third straight game with an ankle injury, and when he’ll be able to play remains a question after he has not practiced at all the last two weeks.
