In response to speculation that he would be in position to succeed Erik ten Hag at Manchester United, Zinedine Zidane has dropped a significant clue regarding his managerial future.

With just five goals scored this season, United has the second-fewest goals scored in the Premier League, and Ten Hag is still under tremendous pressure at the club following another goalless performance over the weekend.

With the club’s worst-ever start to a Premier League season, Ten Hag has beaten his own record from the previous campaign and United is currently ranked fourteenth in the table.

In spite of conflicting information, Sky Sports News asserts that they have not yet gotten in touch with Thomas Tuchel, another name connected to the position.

Former Real Madrid manager Zidane is another name that is frequently put into the mix when it comes to United.

Although Zidane is currently 28/1 to take over as United’s manager, earlier this year, the Frenchman gave away a lot about his future plans.

Prior to the 2024 Champions League final, Zidane gave an explanation of why he doesn’t now view going back into management as his top objective.

“I’ve been the coach of Real Madrid for three years,” Zidane remarked.

In addition to being a coach, I was also a player and a multitasker. However, I have different desires now. I have a good time living. Since I recently became a grandfather, I also look after my grandchildren.

“The most important thing for me is that my life is full,” he went on.

Zidane has not yet managed outside of Madrid, where he won three Champions League titles in two stints from 2016 to 2021.

This raises doubts about his ability to flourish at another team, especially one as good as United right now and without the star lineup he had at Real Madrid.
