Chelsea and Nottingham Forest charged by FA as Nicolas Jackson discovers ban fate

Almost everyone on the field including replacements were engaged, and Chelsea and Forest now have until Thursday to face a claim of failing to supervise their players. The Football Association has punished Chelsea and Nottingham Forest for causing a chaotic melee at the end of their 1-1 Premier League match over the weekend.
Neco Williams pulled Marc Cucurella off the pitch, forcing him to slam Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca to the ground, sparking an on-field brawl in the 88th minute of their Stamford Bridge match on Sunday.
Virtually everyone on the field, including replacements, was engaged, and Chelsea and Forest now have until Thursday to respond to a claim of failing to supervise their players. “Chelsea and Nottingham Forest have been charged after the mass confrontation at their Premier League fixture on Sunday, 6 October,” according to a statement from the FA.
“It is alleged that both clubs failed to guarantee that their players did not act inappropriately or provocatively around the 88th minute. Chelsea and Nottingham Forest have until Thursday, October 10, to respond.
Cucurella received a yellow card for his involvement in the altercation, his fifth of the season, putting him out of Chelsea’s game against Liverpool following the international break, while Wesley Fofana was also punished and will miss the encounter at Anfield.Chelsea received six yellow cards for the second time this season, indicating that they will most certainly face a fine. The Blues were fined £25,000 for six cautions in last month’s 1-0 win against Bournemouth, and they are now ready to face a further £50,000 sanction if they misbehave again.
Nicolas Jackson seemed to raise his hand in the face of a Forest player, which was not noticed by on-field referee Chris Kavanagh.VAR acknowledged that they observed Jackson’s hand to the face but did not believe it was apparent enough aggressive behavior to overturn the referee’s judgment. Jackson did not play and was replaced in the 81st minute, thus he will not face any retrospective action.
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca dismissed worries about his team’s discipline after the game, stating, “These things may happen. In terms of emotion, the squad is battling together, and I don’t believe any of them have lost their minds. They were all in the game. I was pleased with it.
