Jamie Carragher was surprised by a prediction made by Micah Richards regarding Arsenal following Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners now lead the table based on goal difference and are one point ahead of City. They will face City at the Etihad Stadium later this month under the management of Mikel Arteta.

It is uncertain which of the three competing clubs will emerge as the winner in the upcoming weeks, as there is very little difference between them. If Liverpool had emerged victorious against the Sky Blues, the probabilities would have undergone a substantial change in favor of the Reds. However, settling for a draw now presents a great opportunity for Arsenal.

Richards expressed the belief that a Liverpool win would have given Arsenal a strong chance of winning the competition. He stated on Sky Sports, “If City had lost today, I would have considered Arsenal.” Carragher then questioned, “Arsenal?” What would have happened if Liverpool had won? Is that so?”

Richards further stated, “Yes, I simply believed that considering the prevailing force.” Carragher responded humorously, saying, “You support Arsenal, don’t you?” Concluding the chat in a jovial manner, Richards said, “You support Everton!”

Carragher stated that a draw was the optimal result for Arsenal on Sunday, explaining that if one were an Arsenal supporter observing the match, a draw would be considered the most favorable outcome.

“If you are a supporter of Liverpool and you are observing a match between Arsenal and Manchester City in the upcoming weeks, you are likely contemplating the same notion.” In my opinion, they are still endeavoring to catch up with City from their perspectives. They remain the team that others must surpass. In order to defeat them, it is necessary for them to locate the specific areas of weakness. However, City’s upcoming schedule of four or five games is challenging. Despite Arsenal’s current position at the top, I believe Liverpool would like to see them emerge victorious over City. This is because I anticipate City to secure maximum points in their last five or six games of the season. If they maintain their current level of performance in the upcoming weeks without losing any points, I believe it will be extremely challenging to prevent them from achieving their goals.

Arsenal’s upcoming Premier League fixture is against City, a formidable opponent, on March 31. The Gunners will strive to retaliate for their significant 4-1 loss at the reigning champions’ stadium last April.
