Man United expected to break the bank in a club record move for world class striker

An Italian agent predicts that Manchester United will make a significant summer transfer attempt to sign world-class striker Victor Osimhen of Napoli, spending a club record amount of money in the process.

Osimhen, 25, agreed to a new contract that runs through December 2026, but it appears likely that he will leave the Serie A winners in the coming months.

The Nigerian’s name has been mentioned more often than not, but it’s usually in relation to a move to Chelsea or Paris Saint-Germain.

The Red Devils’ starting lineup features Rasmus Hojlund as the only true striker, as Anthony Martial is expected to leave Old Trafford upon his contract expiration in June.

After a goal-starved start to his career, Hojlund has improved in his first season at Manchester United, but Roberto De Fanti says a move for Osimhen is still a possibility.

The only club that the agent, an English-based middleman, could think of that most needed Osimhen’s help with was the Red Devils.

“United are primarily in search of a center-forward,” De Fanti, who does not represent Osimhen, states to Tuttomercatoweb.

“(Rasmus) Hojlund is doing alright, but Osimhen could be the archetypal ‘number nine.'”

It would be dubious if Osimhen’s estimated £110 million release clause was fulfilled in light of Hojlund’s performance. Nevertheless, adding one of Europe’s most prolific strikers would be Man United’s statement signing.

The 25-year-old recently pledged to sign a new contract, but Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has stated unequivocally that Osimhen will depart should a team exercise his buyout option.

However, Chelsea, Man United’s fierce rivals in the Premier League, are adamant about wanting to sign the Nigerian striker.
