The statement made by Phil Foden is that it would be “stupid” to believe that Manchester City is still in the running for the championship.

To his credit, Foden was forthright enough to acknowledge that City is now engaged in a struggle to stay in the top four and secure a spot in the Champions League tournament. A tumultuous season has been suffered by City, which is currently wallowing in sixth position, 12 points behind the leaders Liverpool. The four-time winners have also been through that.

“The title?,” remarked Foden, a superb player for England. Yes, yes, without a doubt, it is finished, it is finished. It is true. In no way are we naive. It is imperative that we strive to achieve a position in the top four, as this is the next objective, followed by the Champions League, of course. It would appear that the season is still going strong.

However, we must remember to stay grounded in reality, don’t we? On the whole, the performances have not been up to par with what is expected of them. First, we want to finish in the top four, and then we will look at where we may place in the other prizes. We really can’t linger on it. At this point, we have to make an effort to go for the top four and put everything back in order.

Although Foden’s two goals at Brentford shown that he is beginning to return to the form he displayed during the previous season, City ultimately ended up drawing 2-2 after giving up a 2-0 lead with only eight minutes remaining in overtime. During the time when City was performing at their highest level, that would have been unimaginable.

But that very much sums up a strange season in which they have not found any form or consistency, and now the struggle is on for Pep Guardiola to get them into the top four or win one of the other trophies because they are still trying to win the FA Cup and the Champions League.

Additionally, Foden was forthright enough to acknowledge that this season has been a steep learning curve, and that they can learn a great deal from it to make themselves more powerful the next year. Foden stated, “To tell you the truth, I believe that this season has been the most educational for me.”

“As you mentioned, I have never been in a scenario where I have lost this many games and been in this predicament before. I have never been in this circumstance before. As a result, there is a learning curve, and it is imperative that you figure out how to go back to your best, not only for me but for the entire team as well. And how we are going to recover from this.

You know, I still feel that we are capable of accomplishing great things. I believe, and I continue to believe, in the squad. It is about getting back on the training pitch and having the mindset that you can keep going and not give up.

Over the course of the past several seasons, we have been the greatest team, and whenever we play against an opponent, we are able to observe how much they are prepared to compete. In addition, we need to make an effort to match or perhaps beyond it, and at the present, we are falling a little bit short of what we need to be.

“So, I believe that has been the challenge this year, how everyone adjusts to have our playing style, and that has made it really difficult,” she said. That’s one of the things I’ve picked up over the years. Although we do not have the most powerful team, we are unable to actually offer any excuses.

It is now second nature to us to compete in the majority of tournaments each year, and we have never had any difficulties in the past. Because there is always the next game just around the corner, you need to get your bearings and take another look at the situation. Therefore, it is something that has to be worked on. Even so, the performances are showing signs of improvement.
